Hi, I’m Delilah.

I’m a retired nurse and cosmetologist, a vintage-obsessed artist, and a proud dog mama to six deeply loved Yorkies — four of whom were rescued in their golden years with serious medical conditions, and three of whom now live forever in our hearts.

Over twenty years ago, I began experiencing relentless back pain that would eventually force me to leave both of my professions. For years, I was dismissed and overlooked by doctors who couldn’t see the pain that became my daily reality. It broke me in more ways than one — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

But that wasn’t the only heartbreak. My husband and I lost our first baby to an ectopic pregnancy that nearly cost me my life. What followed was years of infertility, two failed adoptions, and a foster system that made it nearly impossible to grow our family. We are parents to an angel baby who would be turning 13 this year, and we carry that love with us in everything we do.

Somewhere along that journey, I found art — or maybe it found me. Painting started as a quiet act of self-soothing… a way to calm the noise of anxiety and depression. It became my therapy, my refuge, and eventually, my calling.

Today, I create vintage-inspired art, especially replicas of antique intaglios, using old books, wood, and canvas. My work honors the past — the forgotten, the faded, the beautifully imperfect — much like the lives and stories I’ve carried.

The Held Space was born from all of this.

A space for women like me — women over 40 who are still becoming. Women navigating ADHD, perimenopause, grief, healing, reinvention, or simply trying to find meaning in the middle of it all.

It’s also a space to honor the unsung — including the dogs who’ve become part of my soul. We’ve adopted four senior pups, all with major medical needs, and loved them through whatever time we had. They may not have been seen as “ideal” pets by others, but they were everything to us. They rescued me as much as I rescued them, and the joy we shared is beyond words.

Here, I hold space for all of it —

The pain, the beauty, the quiet joy of creating something from nothing.

The deep love of things that age with grace.

And the belief that healing is not always loud — sometimes, it’s soft and slow and sacred.
